Skinfood. Doesn’t the name say it all. Today, we are falling in love with the gorgeous Skinfood skincare range. When you are new to beauty, it is so hard to know what products are good and which ones ..aren’t. This brand was recommended to me when I first started to care about my skincare and I loved that it was affordable and readily available so I had nothing to lose.
Skinfood | NZ Brand Spotlight
I really like this brand for a few reasons. Firstly, I am a perfectionist (which I only learnt recently) and there is something so perfect about this packaging. It looks good in both my bathrooms, its simple and sophisticated and I love that. Plus, those squeeze tubes are so easy to use, even with wet hands in the shower because yes, I am one of those people who have no problem removing makeup in the shower. I know that’s a big no no for some people out there, but it’s a time saver and I would also call it a life hack.
This brand is so affordable and is easy to buy from the supermarket which I love because then I can sneak it home with the rest of the groceries and no one needs to know that I just brought more beauty related stuff (trust me, the other half would not be impressed if he knew). When I say this brand is affordable, it is around $14 per product but on special, it can get around the $13 price point which I think is incredible for NZ skincare that is made with great ingredients.
Skinfood prides itself on making products with love and gorgeous ingredients. Sounds like a good formula is you ask me. Their products are made to nourish, cleanse and revitalise your skin and to make a long story short, their products are meant to be like food for your skin.
If you are new to the Skinfood brand, I have shared a few of my Favourites below to get you started:
Skinfood Exfoliator: This product uses walnut shell as the exfoliator and wow, what an amazing ingredient to use. It also uses cucumber, honey, lime and more gorgeous ingredients to cleanse and exfoliate your skin. Plus, it smells delicious. I use this maybe twice a week and it makes my skin feel smooth. I do find this scrub is more on the grainy side which is great for the cooler month when my skin needs a harsher physical exfoliator.
Skinfood Mud Mask: This is probably the most hyped up product from the Skinfood range and I do see why. We all love a mud mask but it feels even better using a mud mask when you know it has amazing ingredients and it helps to draw toxins out of your skin without using toxins to accomplish that. This mask uses volcanic clay is used as a deep cleanser. I use this once a fortnight or once a week if my skin is looking a little worse for wear.
3) Facial Cleansing Wipes: I have a love, hate relationship with makeup wipes. I do use them, but not a regular basis but I find it really hard to find wipes that I actually like. I have only been using these for the past month or so and I can hands down say, these are my favourite makeup wipes. They are so gentle but effective and can remove 99% of the makeup off my face. I normally like to rinse my face after using wipes because of the residue they leave behind, but these leave no residue so I am really impressed.
4) Exfoliating Body Bar: I know, I am not usually a girl who uses the old fashioned bar soap but I do make an exception every now and again. I guess I am becoming maturer faster than I would have hoped because I am really starting to like using bar soap and find it quite therapeutic and soothing. Talk about being old before my age. I have tried a few of the soaps from Skinfood and I have really been loving this exfoliating body bar. This soap is delicious, lathers up well and it exfoliates at the same time, talk about a time saver. This soap/exfoliator duo leaves my skin feeling super smooth.
5) Coconut Milk Toner: I love this coconut trend that has recently hit the beauty world and inspired a whole lot of beauty products. I love coconut, whether it be a bounty bar, coconut water and anything else, I am all for it. This product is extremely new to me and so I can’t whole heartedly recommend it yet because I am still trying it but so far, I really like it. The mist on this bottle sprays lightly and is so refreshing. It smells delicious, not the typical coconut scent but do like it. I will be doing a full review on this mist when I have used it some more so stay tuned for that.
