Today was an amazing day, well honestly most days are because I have a whole lot of things to be grateful for, but today was extra amazing. Why you ask? Hold your horses because I am getting there. You all know how much I adore all NZ brands, well today, for the first time ever, I got to meet an NZ brand and go behind the scenes… EEEPPP is was so exciting.
Plantae Skincare| Behind the Scenes
So, Plantae Skincare is a gorgeous NZ skincare brand (which is why it’s being featured on my NZ Beauty Brand series). I am actually based in Nelson, NZ and surprise, surprise, so its Plantae. Although I have featured a few NZ brands on my blog, I have never had the chance to actually go and see the faces behind the brand, the place where the products get formulated and to chat face to face with a real person. The novelty was not lost on me. I feel like a dweb because I was kinda star struck being in this awesome place that I didn’t take many photos. Such a dick move but you live and you learn right?
What do you need to know about the brand? Plantae is a hidden gem. If you care about the ingredients in your products, this is a brand you need to look into. Basically, plantae make products full of good ingredients from natural sources like organic plants. What I loved was the fact that they do not just use one aspect of a plant, they use as much of the plant as they can because a product has a lot of benefits and when you just use one extract, your not maximising the ingredient to its full potential. I think that’s the gist of it, but I’m sure I’m not using the right technical terms.
I have to mention the fact the Plantae products and 95% organic, which is so incredible and something the brand should be extremely proud of. A lot of products use an organic product here or there or use those fancy jargon words to make their product good, but for Plantae to have the seal of approval from Bio-Gro NZ, you know their 95% organic products are the real deal. I haven’ been using the Plantae products for long, but it feels good using products that are made up of good ingredients.
Interview with Carol Priest
I also had a quick chat with the mind behind the brand, Carol Preist. Firstly, it’s so nice to talk to someone who is real. Not like real as in face to face, but someone who answers questions and chats like we were two old friends. I found Carol really entertaining and straight up which I appreciate. I asked Carol a few questions, just to get a feel about her and her inspiration behind the brand. I don’t know about you, but I love supporting a brand when I know more about a brand.
I asked Carol to tell me what her favourite product is. Her response was kind of amusing because it is pretty clear she loves a lot of products from this range, but she eventually decided on the Pacific Blue Lavender Cream Cleanser and why you ask/ Because she loves the smell and the way it feels melting into her skin. The lavender in this product is actually grown by her friend who lives a hop, skip and a jump away. How cool is that?
There are some pretty amazing products in this range, but honestly, I had to know what inspires new products and it was refreshing to hear her reply. It seems these days, so many brands are just making products based on trends, which is fine but I love that Carol creates new products based on her own experience and products she knows are needed and wanted by the market.
I found Carol’s description of Plantae Certified Organic Skincare quite romantic. Instead of dreading your skincare routine, Carol talks about it becoming a ritual. A ritual where you can have a moment to yourself to enjoy the scents, the texture and the application. Honestly, ever since I talked to her, I have been trying to savour and enjoy my skincare routine (which drives my other half bonkers, he has no idea what I’m doing in the bathroom for twenty minutes).
Honestly, I love having the chance to chat with the team at Plantae Certified Organic Skincare. So, I am currently testing out a few products from the range and I will have my top picks and some reviews up very soon but if there anything you are desperate to see, let me know and I’ll put it on top of the pile.
