Here’s to the fricken weekend. I am ready to unwind with a Harney & Sons tea, a beautiful candle, and a Netflix binging session to celebrate making it through another week. Who’s with me? I haven’t been around on the blog much lately and there are a lot of reasons for that but I am about to step up my Blog, Instagram, and Vlog game. Before I do that, I thought it was time to write a quick catch up post so you can see what I have been doing this year, since clearly, it has not been blogging!
A Life Update | Behind the Scenes of The Beauty Context
I got married! To be fair, this was way back at the start of 2018 but it’s my biggest milestone of the year so it deserves a mention. Planning a wedding was relatively easy, but it was time-consuming and after the big event, It took me awhile to get my motivation back to start focusing on other aspects of my life. On a side note, we just reached 6 months of married life and so far, so good!
The best part of getting married (apart from declaring your love for your best friend and doing in front of everyone you care about..obvs**) is planning the honeymoon. To be honest, although our wedding was a really small, intimate day- we were still broke ass poor after the event so going on a honeymoon straight after the big day was not an option. Instead, we jet set away next month to South America (almost 9 months after we got married). For those who don’t know me, organizational skills are not a strong point of mine, even if it is listed under skills on my CV. Don’t be fooled. So planning a 5week trip away was not my forte, which means it took me about 8 months and two weeks to plan this dream honeymoon.
I have two loves in my life. Makeup and Sugar. If you follow my blog, you’re well aware of my makeup obsession. I have a collection to rival makeup artists and I have an online shopping addiction which means this makeup collection is forever growing. However, another huge obsession of mine is sugar. I am obsessed with it and honestly, it’s not the best for me. Due to some health issues, I am changing my lifestyle! A healthy life is a happy life. So, over the next few months, I might do a few lifestyle posts to keep you updated in case anyone is interested!!
I love my blog. It is so refreshing to have an outlet to share my passion for beauty. But sometimes, blogging can feel like a chore. I want to share posts, reviews, trends but writing posts and taking photos is time-consuming. It is not the glammed up life you see people living on Instagram & youtube (at least not for me haha). Because of all the work, blogging can feel like a second job even though I make $0 from it. Because of that, I just needed to step away from posting regularly, reframe my approach to blogging and touch roots with what I want my blog to be and where I want it to go.
TBOI : The Business of Influence
I have wanted to make my blog a priority for a while now but I had no idea how to take it from a hobby blog, to a blog that would be taken seriously in the industry and that’s when I got chatting to Amanda from The Business of Influence (TBOI). Amanda is an amazing person and she knows her stuff when it comes to PR & marketing. She used to work with some huge brands in NZ and she has now branched out on her own, to offer her insider knowledge to people like me (and maybe you too?). If you are a blogger or business owner looking to make a splash in the pond, check her out here.
So, after that life update, back to beauty blogging. Let me know if there is anything you want to see on the blog or any bougie makeup products that you want to see reviewed.
