Makeup trends come and go, but the highlighting trend seems like it is here to stay (for now anyway). So here is a post about the 5 highlighters that you need to own in your collection. Not going to lie, picking out 5 highlighter was a hard task, and it just came down to the highlighters that I use the most.
So here are the 5 highlighters you need to own..
The Balm- Mary Lou: This highlighter is your new best friend. I kid you not, its one of the most affordable highlighters I have found that I love, it gives you a glow that can be seen from space, and the formula is creamy and easy to use!
Becca- Opal: Becca highlighters have gained cult status and for good reason! They come in a range of different colours so there is a highlighter for everyone, and the formula is buttery and smooth. To find out which highlighter is the right one for your skin tone, see swatches of the full collection on different skin tones here.
Nars Albatross: This highlighter doesn’t seem to be talked about as much as the ones mentioned above, and I have no idea why because it is life (dramatic I know). I think this was the first highlighter I purchased and I still love it. It almost has a duo chrome aspect to it and applies to the skin white with a clean gold shimmer. Love it!
Too Faced Candlelight Glow: The swatches for this highlighter suck, and that’s my fault.. so don’t judge the product on my crappy swatching skills because this one is amazing as well. Its finely milled, the product has a white and pink side and you can choose either or swirl together so essentially it can be seen as three highlighters in one (if you needed to enable yourself to purchase another highlighter for your collection). This one sits on the skin beautifully and doesn’t highlighter your pores or anything like that either. Perfect
Laura Mercier Baked Highlight 01: Highlighting is in, yes.. but there are those of us who don’t love the intense highlight look, or sometime we want a look that is a little softer and that’s when this highlighter comes in. The highlighter has a peachy gold tone to it, and is perfect for more of a diffused and natural glow.
Elf Blush-Pinktastic: Clearly, this highlighter is not a highlighter but actually a blush which is why I am calling it the bonus highlighter. It’s one of the best drugstore highlighters I have found, and is a product that gives you a stunning glow. The formula isn’t as buttery, or finely milled as the other options, but for the price you pay, this product is great and gives you a lot of bang for your buck.
Those are the highlighters I love, and the ones that I think are worth adding to your collection. You clearly don’t need to own this many highlighters, but if you are In the market to buy a new one, these ones are worth thinking about.
What are your favourite highlighters? Let me know because I always love adding more highlighters to my collection.
